A day in Kotor
Take a boat trip to the Lady of the rocks
This really is an iconic scene and something you have to see when you are in the Kotor area. You can easily find a company and book a tour that takes you to the island from Kotor, but I would recommend getting to the next town called Perast and find someone there. Perast is a nice town in itself to spend a day and stroll around if you have the time. Even if you come just to get a boat to Lady of the rocks, you will surely save a few bucks and you will easily spot people sitting by the water waiting for tourists they can take to the island.
Climb the city wall
Even though the city wall looks very steep and there are many steps to take to get there, it is definitely worth a visit. The view from the top is spectacular. However, it is definitely a little exercise, especially in the heat, so I would recommend doing it when the sun is not at its highest as we chose to do. I also saw a lot of people in high heels or other very impractical shoes, and it looked like they regretted their choices. So wear something comfortable, but no need for workout gear to get to the top. One pleasant surprise was that there are actually people on the way up that sell water. Another thing to keep in mind is the cruise ships. There are at times many cruise ships docked in Kotor, and they can ruin the view from the city wall, so if possible plan your trip at a point where the ships haven`t arrived yet or when they are leaving. Expect to spend about 90 minutes going up to the Castle of San Giovanni and down again. Make sure to stop and get a great picture overlooking the city and the church tower on your way down!
Swim in the crystal clear water
The bay of Kotor is just incredibly clear and the temperature is perfect for a swim. In addition you have the amazing view of Kotor city wall to admire as you take a dip. It is located a short 5 minute walk from the center. You will find a beautiful stone beach equipped with everything you need for a great day at the beach.
Explore the old town
There are many entrances to the old town and no matter which one you enter you will soon realize how to navigate around. The old town is not huge, but extremely charming and there are lots of small shops, restaurants and museums. In addition to the City wall, which starts in the old town, I would recommend checking out the clock tower and St.Tryphoon cathedral which is located somewhat in the middle.
