Some travelers want to be right in the middle of the action with beach bars, casinos, and water sports within walking distance. Others prefer a quieter place where they can wake up to the sound of the ocean and enjoy long, relaxed beach days.
The good news is that Aruba has fantastic accommodation options for every type of traveler. Whether you're looking for luxury beachfront resorts, stylish boutique hotels, or budget-friendly apartments with kitchens, there’s something here for every travel style.
This guide will help you choose the best area to stay in Aruba, plus the best hotels for every budget in each location.

Palm Beach: Best Area for Resorts & Nightlife
If it’s your first time visiting Aruba, Palm Beach is one of the best places to stay. This is the island’s main resort area, where you’ll find high-rise hotels, beach bars, restaurants, casinos, and plenty of water sports. The beach stretches for nearly two miles and is lined with palm trees, white sand, and calm turquoise water that’s perfect for swimming.
Palm Beach has a lively and social atmosphere, especially in the evenings when the restaurants and bars start filling up with people enjoying sunset drinks and dinner by the ocean. Because so many hotels are located here, everything is within walking distance, which makes it a very convenient place to stay.
If you want a classic Caribbean beach vacation with lots of energy, beautiful resorts, and easy access to activities, Palm Beach is an excellent choice.

Eagle Beach: Best Area for a Relaxed Beach Vacation
If you’re looking for something quieter and more romantic, Eagle Beach is one of the best places to stay on the island. This area is known for having one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, with wide stretches of powdery white sand and calm turquoise water.
Compared to Palm Beach, the atmosphere here is much more relaxed. There are fewer large resorts and more boutique hotels and small apartment-style accommodations. It’s the perfect place if you want peaceful beach days, long sunset walks, and a slower pace.
Despite being quieter, Eagle Beach is still close enough to restaurants and activities that you’ll never feel isolated.

Oranjestad: Best Area for Culture, Shopping and Flamingo Beach
The colorful capital of Aruba, Oranjestad, offers a completely different experience from the resort areas. The town is known for its pastel-colored Dutch Caribbean buildings, waterfront promenades, and lively shopping streets.
Staying here puts you close to museums, restaurants, and local markets, giving you a chance to experience more of Aruba’s culture. It’s also where you’ll find one of the island’s most famous attractions: Flamingo Beach.
Even though it’s the capital, Oranjestad still feels relaxed and easy to explore, with plenty of great restaurants and cafés within walking distance.

Noord: Best Area for Vacation Rentals and Quiet Stays
Just inland from Palm Beach, Noord is a great area if you’re looking for more affordable accommodations or longer stays. Many vacation rentals and apartments are located here, often offering much more space than typical hotel rooms.
This area is still very close to Palm Beach and Eagle Beach, but it feels quieter and more residential. It’s especially popular with digital nomads, families, and travelers planning to stay on the island for a week or more.
You’ll also find many great local restaurants and cafés in Noord that feel more authentic than some of the tourist-heavy spots near the resorts.

How to Choose the Best Area to Stay in Aruba
If you're visiting Aruba for the first time, Palm Beach is usually the easiest and most convenient place to stay thanks to its restaurants, nightlife, and beach access.
If you want a quieter and more romantic atmosphere, Eagle Beach is a fantastic choice with one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. This is my personal favorite and the area I would choose to base myself in again when I go back.
Travelers who enjoy culture, shopping, and unique experiences like Flamingo Beach should consider Oranjestad, while Noord is perfect for longer stays and vacation rentals.
No matter which area you choose, you’ll still have easy access to the island’s beautiful beaches, crystal-clear water, and incredible sunsets. Aruba’s friendly atmosphere, reliable sunshine, and stunning coastline make it one of the best destinations in the Caribbean.
