Siem Reap is one of those places where where you stay can completely shape your trip. Stay in the heart of the Old Market and you can walk to cafés, cocktail bars and night markets, but it can get loud throughout the night. Choose a boutique hideaway tucked among rice paddies or along the river, and suddenly your trip feels more like a tropical retreat.

One of the things that surprised me most about Siem Reap? Just how beautiful the hotels are. This is one of those rare places where your accommodation can feel like part of the destination.

And the best part? Siem Reap has some of the best-value accommodation in Southeast Asia.

This is a place where boutique hotels with dreamy pools, design-forward stays and luxury resorts can cost what a basic chain hotel would cost in Europe. After spending time here, I honestly think Siem Reap has some of the best value for money hotels in the world.

So if you’re wondering where to stay in Siem Reap, these are the neighborhoods I’d consider—and the hotels I’d book.

Best Areas to Stay in Siem Reap

Old Market / Pub Street

If it’s your first time in Siem Reap, this is where many people choose to base themselves. Yes, it’s practical and you’re in walking distance to everything from Pub Street and Night Markets, to Cafes and massage spots. However, it can get quite noisy in this area, especially if you're visiting during high season. So it’s a matter of preference. If you want easy access this is great, if you want peace and tranquility see some other options below.

This is a good option if you only have a few nights in the city and want to make the most of it on a budget.

Wat Bo Area (Best Boutique Neighborhood)

Just east of the river, Wat Bo has become Siem Reap’s prettiest little pocket. It’s filled with leafy streets, design cafés, yoga studios, cute restaurants and boutique hotels. It feels calmer and more local than the Old Market, while still being close enough to walk or tuk-tuk anywhere.

This is perfect for couples and those travelling a bit slower and plan to spend some time relaxing by the pool.

Charles de Gaulle / Angkor Road (Best for Luxury Resorts)

If you’re dreaming of tropical resort energy, this is the area. Stretching toward Angkor Wat, this road is lined with many of Siem Reap’s top luxury properties. Here you can expect grand resorts, huge pools, lush gardens and amazing spa experiences. It’s also closer to the Angkor Complex so you can sleep a bit longer the day you wake up to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat.

This is perfect for luxury travelers or honeymooners.

Sala Kamreuk (Best Hidden Gem Area)

South of the river, Sala Kamreuk still feels a bit under the radar. It has beautiful boutique stays, quiet streets, rice field views and a more residential atmosphere. It’s the “I found this before everyone else” part of Siem Reap.

I spent part of my time in Siem Reap here and loved it. It’s just a short tuk tuk ride into town and has some amazing spots to stay.

This is perfect for repeat visitors, peaceful escapes and for those staying in the area for a long time.

Zannier Phum Baitang - Booking.com

Zannier Phum Baitang ($400 per night)

If you want full tropical dream mode—this is it.

Phum Baitang feels less like a hotel and more like a secret Khmer village surrounded by rice paddies. They have private villas that sit among palms with buffalos grazing nearby.

There are lantern-lit pathways, lotus ponds and one of the dreamiest pools in Cambodia. It’s breathtaking and easily one of Southeast Asia’s most beautiful resorts.

Raffles Hotel Angkor - Booking.com

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor ($400 per night)

If old-world glamour is your thing, this is legendary. Opened in 1932, Raffles is colonial-era grandeur at its finest.

The stunning hotel can offer historic suites, white-gloved elegance, gardens that feel almost cinematic and one of Cambodia's most famous swimming pools

Staying here feels like stepping into another era. And somehow it still doesn’t feel stuffy. It feels timeless.

Jaya House River - Booking.com

Jaya House River Park ($260 per night)

This hotel has almost cult status among travelers—and for good reason.

Set near the river in a peaceful location, Jaya House feels like a hidden sanctuary. Everything feels thoughtful with two serene pools surrounded by palms, rooms with gorgeous Khmer handcrafted details and deep soaking tubs.

People also rave about the hospitality here and comment on the staff who seem to remember every tiny preference.

And the sustainability focus makes it feel even better to support.

This is one of those hotels where people book three nights and wish they had stayed a week.

Sala Lodges - Booking.com

Sala Lodges ($190 per night)

This is one of the most unique places you can stay in Cambodia. The hotel consists of traditional khmer wooden houses that have been reassembled into a boutique property unlike anywhere else.

They offer a stunning pool, lush gardens, an amazing spa service and a family friendly restaurant on site.

Shinta Mani Angkor - Booking.com

Shinta Mani Angkor ($120 per night)

There are hotels that are beautiful. And then there are hotels with soul. Shinta Mani feels like both. Designed by Bill Bensley, every corner feels considered—from black-and-white tiled floors to lush courtyards and art-filled interiors inspired by Cambodia.

Service is warm without being formal, the pool is an oasis after temple-hopping, and the breakfasts are the kind you start planning your morning around.

And then there’s Kroya, one of Siem Reap’s standout restaurants, where Khmer cuisine is elevated into something extraordinary.

Central Suite Residence ($50 per night)

If a central location is high on your list, this is hard to beat. It's tucked down a quiet lane just a short walk from Pub Street and the Old Market, which puts you right in the heart of Siem Reap.

What makes this hotel such a great find is that it combines boutique charm, resort-style touches, and incredible value. It has a gorgeous saltwater pool and a nice rooftop bar which is great for sunset drinks overlooking the city after a day of temple-hopping.

Golden Temple Hotel - Booking.com

Golden Temple Boutique ($45 per night)

Tucked away in a peaceful pocket near the Old Market, it manages to feel wonderfully serene while still being close to Siem Reap’s nightlife.

Khmer House Resort - Booking.com

Khmer House Resort ($30 per night)

If you’re looking for a beautiful boutique stay in Siem Reap that feels peaceful and luxurious without the luxury price tag, Khmer House Resort is such a gem.

Tucked away in the quieter Sala Kamreuk area, just a short tuk-tuk ride from the Old Market, this hotel feels more like a tropical retreat than a city stay.

You could spend days just relaxing by the beautiful pools. And the rooms are spacious and elegant with a mix of traditional khmer touches and modern comfort.

It has that relaxed, hidden-oasis atmosphere people often come to Southeast Asia hoping to find. For the price, it offers incredible value and feels far more special than many hotels in the same range.
