What I love most about the food in Ubud is the variety. I think I tried food from every continent and I definitely had more vegan food than I’ve had in a while. It’s the combo that makes it so special, you can really find any kind of food here.
This guide includes my personal favourite places to eat in Ubud, all tried by me. They might not be your cup of tea, but at least you’ll find some inspiration. I’ll also add a list at the end of more places I’ve gotten recommended by friends who have stayed here for longer, but that I sadly never got to try myself.
I’ve tried to divide them into breakfast & brunch spots, and dinner restaurants. However, most of them are open all day so you can come anytime, it’s just a matter of what kind of food I tried here.
Best Cafés & Brunch Spots in Ubud
Two faces
We came here for a late breakfast one day and were not disappointed. They had so much to choose from but we ended up trying their classic pancakes and some eggs. It’s the first time in a long time we’ve had fluffy pancakes with butter and maple syrup so that was really nice. It seems like a pretty popular spot so it was pretty full, but I still think the atmosphere was nice and relaxing.

ZZ Burger
I know most people coming to Ubud fall in love with all the healthy food options and vegetarian cafés, but if you’re not vegan and looking for something a bit different. This is a small, but really great spot. We came here one day when we were just craving a really juicy burger, and it delivered everything we hoped for. It’s a super small spot with only a couple of tables, but the food was really good.

Yoga Barn
I’m adding this here even though I probably wouldn’t travel to Yoga Barn just to eat. However, if you’re already planning on heading there to do a session, which I highly recommend, they do have both a small smoothie spot and a slightly bigger restaurant selling pretty nice food. So if you want somewhere to hang out before or after your yoga or meditation session this is a great spot with really fresh food.

Novus coffee & eatery
This is a super small spot, but we ended up coming here for breakfast and coffee multiple times. It was always good and it felt a little more local in some way than many of the more aesthetic spots. Even though I really liked the food here, I wouldn’t travel across town to eat here, but if you’re staying on Jalan Bisma Road this is a great spot for breakfast.

Soul Bites
We just came here on a whim because Suki, the spot we were going to, were full and we didn’t have time to wait 20 minutes for a table. So we headed to the highest rated spot nearby and it turned out to be really nice. For some reason there were hardly any people here and usually I would just walk past, but the food was actually really good. We tried a pasta and an egg dish that we would definitely have again. It’s nothing fancy, but a cute spot with lots of space and great food.

Sweet Orange Warung
If you decide to do the Sweet Orange Trail you’ll walk past this spot and I highly recommend setting aside some time for a visit. Even if you don’t want to eat here, it’s well worth a visit just to grab a drink and relax amongst the rice fields. It’s one of those places that feel a bit more authentic compared to many of the more polished and aesthetic spots in and around the city.

Pukako Panini & Coffe
I think eating here gave me the biggest “Eat, pray, love” feel out of all the spots i tried in Ubud, and that’s saying something. I stumbled upon it after doing yoga at the Ubud yoga house and I’m so glad I tried it. I just grabbed a quick avocado sandwich and smoothie for lunch, but it was really good. However, it’s the views and vibe here that’s the big selling point. Get a table overlooking the rice fields and you’ll probably want to stay there all day.
It’s worth noting that the restaurant also has a location on Jalan Bisma, I never tried that one, but I assume the food is as good. But, they don’t have the amazing views though.

Tori Café
This is another great spot if you want to relax amongst the rice fields. I came here one of the times I walked the Sari Organic walk and I would definitely come back. Both the food and the views are amazing. If you’re doing the walk, I highly recommend making a stop here even if it’s just to grab a drink. You can of course also come here even if you don’t do the walk, it’s just a bit out of town.

Karsa Kafé
If you’re doing the Campuhan Ridge Walk I personally think this was the best spot to stop for something to eat or drink. It’s also at the end of the trail, so it’s perfect as a resting spot before you head back again. I do have to say that it’s the views and ambiance that’s the biggest selling point, but they did also have some completely decent pizza.
I wouldn’t come all the way out here just to eat, but if you’re hungry while doing the walk, this is a nice spot. Along the route there are also some more upscale spots to eat that are probably worth checking out if you’re looking for a full meal after the hike.
Lazy Cats
We came here one day we were switching hotels and needed a spot to relax for a couple of hours, and it was perfect. The setup is super cute with colourful interior and a really relaxed vibe. We saw plenty of people sitting here working, so if you're looking for a spot to work, this might be good. The food was also really good with lots of nice breakfast options.

Best Restaurants for Dinner in Ubud
Milk & Madu
If I had to recommend one spot where I think everyone will find something they like, it would be Milk & Madu. The atmosphere is relaxed, the menu is huge, and everything I've tried here has been consistently good. It's one of those places where you can come for breakfast, stay for lunch, and happily order coffee all afternoon while getting some work done.
We came here both for lunch and dinner and were not disappointed. The place in itself isn’t anything fancy, but you’ll definitely get full, the food is delicious and the prices are decent. And if you want some dessert I highly recommend the chocolate cookies with ice cream. It’s delicious!

Kebun Bistro
This was one of my favourite spots for lunch or dinner. On my first visit I came here after a yoga session at Yoga barn since it’s not so far away and had a super delicious salad. They also have everything from pasta to dessert so you can really find anything here. It’s located in a quieter area which is nice, and the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. I would absolutely head here if I only had a few days in Ubud.

La Barracca
We came here on our last day in Ubud and I honestly wish we’d come earlier as it turned out to be one of the best meals we’ve had here. At least of the ones who were a bit more budget friendly. We tried the lasagna and pizza, and they were both really good. Though I have to say the lasagne was my favourite. If you’re looking for a great Italian spot close to town, I highly recommend checking this one out.

Café Des Artistes
We walked past this spot multiple times and it always looked super cozy in the evening, so eventually we decided to give it a try. And I’m so happy we did. It’s been a long time since I had a steak, but I had one here and it was super good. So much so that we came back the next day for more.
Every time we walked past during lunch it was completely empty, but the food is probably still as good. It’s just that they have a really cozy setup with lights in the garden in the evening that makes it more of a dinner spot.

I personally use SafetyWing and highly recommend it for every kind of trip. Check their prices & plans here.
Habitat Bistro
This was the first spot we ate at in Ubud because we stayed here and it was such an amazing place to start our trip. It’s an Italian restaurant and we tried a pizza and pasta ragù. Both dishes were super delicious. The pizza was a bit smaller than what we’re used to, but more than enough for us. The atmosphere was also really great and the waiters super sweet.
It has some really nice views of the fields in front of it and I think it would be absolutely amazing to come here around sunset and watch that while you eat. It was dark when we got here so we didn’t get to see it, but I can imagine it being really nice.

Noema Greek Restaurant & Bar
If there’s one thing I love in the heat, it’s a really good Greek salad. So when I saw that there was a nice Greek restaurant in Ubud I had to give it a try. We tried the moussaka, chicken skewers and of course the Greek salad and it was all really good. If I was staying even longer in Ubud I would definitely come back at some point for more. So if you’re craving something a bit different, I can absolutely recommend the food here.

Taco Casa
This place might not scream Ubud or fancy dining, but we still gave it a try and I have to say that I think the food here was really good. We tried some tostados and burritos and both tasted delicious. It also seemed like a fairly popular spot and both times we came here it was quite crowded. So, if you’re craving some Mexican food, this is the best spot we found in Ubud.

Plant Bistro
If you’re vegan I think you’re going to absolutely love this place. And if you’re not vegan I think this is one of the best places you can go to try some delicious vegan food. They have so many different things to choose from so I really think most people will find something they like here. It’s also a super cozy spot, with beautiful interior, and it’s perched on a hill so if you come during daytime you’ll get some really nice views of Ubud. We were here after sunset so we didn’t get to see it, but I can just imagine how stunning it would be.

Final Thoughts: Best Places to Eat in Ubud, Bali
No matter where you stay in Ubud and how big your budget is, you'll definitely find some really great food.
This was my first time visiting Ubud, and I already know that I want to come back. One of the reasons for that is how easy it is to get really good, fresh and healthy food. And if I really want it, I can get a juicy burger or some fluffy pancakes as well. Win-win.
If I only had a couple of days in Ubud, I would prioritise heading to Two faces and Pukako for breakfast or lunch, and Kebun Bistro and Barracca for dinner. My favourite spots were among the rice terraces so make sure to have at least one meal a bit outside the city.
