For me, that slower pace was exactly what made Gili Meno so special. However, for some it might actually feel to slow.
Gili Meno is perfect if you're looking for a romantic getaway, travelling as a couple, hoping to relax or just want peaceful beaches without crowds. After all, it’s called the "Honeymoon Island” for a reason.

Unlike many other islands in Indonesia, there isn't one best area to stay on Gili Meno. In fact, that's one of the things I loved most about it.
Because the island is so small, you can walk almost anywhere in 20–30 minutes, meaning you're never far from beautiful beaches, snorkelling spots, or restaurants. Instead of choosing between different neighbourhoods, I think it's much more important to decide what kind of holiday you're looking for.
Do you want to wake up with your toes in the sand and the ocean right outside your door? Or would you rather stay in a peaceful villa surrounded by tropical gardens and palm trees? Both are fantastic options on Gili Meno, and you'll find everything from budget-friendly guesthouses to luxurious boutique resorts scattered across the island.

Why Stay on The West Coast of Gili Meno?
If I had to recommend one area for most travellers, it would probably be the west coast.
This is where you'll find the largest selection of accommodation, from charming beachfront bungalows to luxury boutique hotels and beautiful private pool villas. Many of the hotels sit directly on the beach, so you can wake up, step outside your room, and be swimming in the turquoise sea within minutes.
The west coast is also home to many of Gili Meno's restaurants and beach bars, making it a great choice if you like having a few dining options within walking distance. And when evening arrives, you'll be treated to some of the most spectacular sunsets on the island, with Bali's Mount Agung often visible in the distance on a clear day.

Why Stay on the East Coast of Gili Meno?
I found the beaches on the east coast to be some of the most beautiful on the island, with incredibly clear, calm water that's perfect for swimming and snorkelling. It also feels a little quieter during the day with less day-trippers and snorkelling tours, making it a wonderful place to simply relax by the ocean.
The only downside is that there aren't nearly as many hotels or good restaurants as you'll find on the west coast. So if staying directly on the beach or having great restaurants within walking distance is important to you, I wouldn't base myself here.
You will find more local warungs selling Indonesian food and some great value-for money hotels not far form the beach that are worth looking into.
Even if you choose to stay elsewhere, I'd definitely recommend walking over to explore this side of the island during your visit.

This is where you'll find most of the peaceful villas with private pools, charming boutique stays, yoga retreats, and even hotels with on-site dive centres if you're hoping to get your scuba certification while visiting.

Since Gili Meno is much smaller than Bali or Lombok, accommodation is more limited. If you've got your heart set on a particular hotel, I'd definitely recommend booking in advance.
A few things worth keeping in mind:
