After spending lots of time exploring and chatting with other travelers, I’ve put together this honest guide with the best places to stay in Caye Caulker, broken down by budget, mid-range, and luxury stays.
I obviously can’t stay at every hotel in Caye Caulker so this article is based on my research before I went, as well as what I learned while in Caye Caulker, plus getting feedback and info from other travelers I met while traveling Belize. I was pretty late when ordering my accommodations in Caye Caulker, resulting in many of the options I had looked at being sold out. However, we ended up staying at the Bounty Hotel and I truly loved our stay there.
Should I stay at the North or South Island in Caye Caulker?
First thing first, where on the island should you look at hotels?
You might not know that Caye Caulker is actually split in to two islands? The North and the South island. Yes, there’s a ferry going between them so it‘s relatively easy to travel to both. However, the two island are completely different so making sure you end up on the island that’s right for you is important.
The South Island in Caye Caulker
The South Island is the one you’ve probably heard about or seen pictures from. It’s probably this island that inspired you to visiting Caye Caulker in the first place. This is the island where you’ll find all the bars, restaurants, tour companies and most of the hotels. It has the famous Lazy Lizard and is by far the most lively part of Caye Caulker.
The North Island in Caye Caulker
I don’t really have a better way of saying it than that the Northern island is under construction. I only visited this part of Caye Caulker for one day, but it was all I needed. There are hotels here already, but it seems like a lot more will come in the next couple of years. I lost count of how many construction sites I saw while cycling across the island. If you just want to stay at a secluded island, make your own food and relax without more tourists, this might be a good option. The Northern Islands biggest draw is the Bliss beach, which you have to go to no matter where you end up staying.
I nevertheless recommend staying at the South Island. You will be able to find secluded and relaxing hotels there too if that’s what you want. I would however head to the North island for a day to go to Bliss beach.

Budget-Friendly Places to Stay in Caye Caulker (Under $60/night)
Bella’s is the classic backpacker hostel, colorful, social, and slightly chaotic in the best way. There’s a rooftop deck, a communal kitchen, bikes and kayaks for rent. This is probably the most lively Hostel in Caye Caulker I would say, so if you’re not interested in the party scene, then skip this one. If you’re on a tight budget and want to be in the middle of the action, this is a great choice. The private rooms are basic but cozy, and the dorms are solid if you don’t mind the usual hostel hustle. The also have group BBQ nights which are super cozy!

The name says it all. This no-frills guesthouse is perfect if you just want somewhere clean, cheap, and central. Rooms are basic but come with fans and decent Wi-Fi. There’s a cute little balcony to people-watch too. I was told that the owners are super friendly which is always a plus!
This is not a party hostel, so it’s perfect for those craving a bit more laid back environment. The location is really great in the middle of town so you’re in walking distance from everything you want to do.

Mid-Range Hotels in Caye Caulker ($60–$150/night)
Colinda Cabanas feels like a peaceful little sanctuary. It’s located on the quieter end of the island (which means no golf cart traffic or party noise), but it’s still just a short bike ride from the main area.
The rooms are cute wooden cabanas with little porches and hammocks, super charming and well cared for. Plus, there’s a private dock where you can swim, sunbathe, or watch the sunrise. It’s also a plus that they have free bike rental. This is the perfect place if you want to relax, but not spend a fortune.

I would say that Sea Dreams is one of those under-the-radar gems. It’s located right near The Split (a.k.a. the island’s swimming hotspot), but it still manages to feel tucked away and intimate.
They offer everything from affordable rooms to suites and a treehouse-style loft (!). There’s also a rooftop deck for sunset drinks and a homemade breakfast included, which is surprisingly rare on the island. If you want to stay here I would advice you to book a bit ahead of time to make sure it’s available as it‘s one of the most highly ranked hotel options on Caye Caulker.

This is a super stylish and serene guesthouse run by what I’ve heard is a lovely couple. The rooms are tastefully decorated, and there’s even a rooftop deck for morning coffee or late-night stargazing. This is a place that feels like a boutique hotel but without the boutique price.
This is an adults only hotel for those who value that. They even have a Yoga studio and fitness classes which I haven’t seen many other places on the island.

This hotel is just steps from the water, and also has a pool and beach bar. This one feels a little more resort-y without the resort price tag. The rooms are modern and clean, and the location is excellent. Ask for a seafront room for those incredible sunrise views!
They also have suites with a kitchen or kitchenette, dining area and a fridge if you don’t want to eat out for every meal.

This is where we stayed and even though we booked last minute I really loved this place. It’s located in the center of the island, easily walkable to all things we wanted to see and do. It’s also right across from the Ice and Beans where we went for breakfast every morning. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. A big plus is the little porch on the outside where you can sit and relax. The sunrise view from our little porch was absolutely stunning. I would book it again if I came back.

Where to Eat and Drink in Caye Caulker, Belize: Best Restaurants, Beach Bars & Local Bites
Best Luxury Hotels in Caye Caulker ($150+/night)
If you’re ready to treat yourself, Weezie’s is where you want to be. It’s hands down one of the most beautiful places to stay in Caye Caulker. Think oceanfront pools, private balconies, hammocks, and designer-style decor without feeling snobby.
They offer both hotel rooms and garden cottages, and the whole property is just gorgeous. It’s located on the quieter south end of the island, so you can enjoy some peace and quiet, but still be just a short walk (or quick bike ride) to the restaurants and bars.

Jan’s Hotel sits right on the beach near the center of town, so you’re close to everything while still having a peaceful space to relax. The rooms are spacious and modern, with balconies overlooking the ocean.
If you’re someone who wants a little comfort and convenience without over-the-top prices, Jan’s hits the sweet spot. It’s not ultra-luxury, but it’s still very much a treat-yourself kind of stay.

A newer addition to the island and absolutely stunning. It has private bungalows with plunge pools, daybeds, and a sleek infinity pool overlooking the sea. It’s a little pricier, but if you’re looking to splurge, this is the place. The Instagrammable factor of this place is off the charts, but it’s also genuinely relaxing and luxurious.
