Is 5 Days in Curaçao Enough?
You could honestly stay forever on Curaçao and never get tired of it, but I do think five days in Curaçao is enough to see the island’s highlights, explore its most beautiful beaches, and experience the colourful culture of Willemstad.
If you have more time, you can easily stretch this itinerary into a week by adding more beach days, diving trips, or exploring additional hidden coves along the island’s west coast. It's also perfect to combine with a trip to the other ABC-Islands Aruba and Bonaire.
Detailed Daily Itinerary for Curaçao
This 5-day Curaçao itinerary takes you through historic cities, hidden coves, snorkeling spots, and breathtaking viewpoints. It’s designed so that each day flows naturally, with minimal driving and plenty of time to soak in the island’s laid-back Caribbean vibe.
Day 1: Explore Willemstads different areas
Your first day on the island is the perfect time to explore the colourful capital city of Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its pastel Dutch colonial architecture. Walking through the historic districts of Punda and Otrobanda feels a bit like stepping into a tropical version of Amsterdam, with rows of brightly painted buildings along the waterfront.
Start your morning by wandering through the streets of Punda, where you’ll find boutique shops, cafés, and lively markets. Don’t miss walking across the famous Queen Emma Bridge, a floating pedestrian bridge that swings open whenever boats pass through the harbor. On the other side you'll have the best view of the pastel buildings lining the water.
In the afternoon, head over to Otrobanda where colorful murals cover the walls and the streets feel more local and artistic. This neighborhood has become one of the most photogenic spots on the island. Make sure to wander into Kura Hulanda Village to both check out the museum, wander the cosy streets and grab a nice dinner.

Day 2: Relax on Grote and Kleine Knip
Your second day is all about starting to discover some of the incredible beaches along Curaçao’s western coast, where many of the island’s most beautiful coves are located. You can spend weeks exploring all the amazing beaches here, but I recommend not doing more than two, tops three per day so you're able to relax as well.
Rent a car and start the morning at Grote Knip, often considered one of the most stunning beaches on the island. From the cliffs above the beach, you’ll get panoramic views of turquoise water. The water here is calm and crystal clear, making it perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
Grab some lunch from one of the food trucks here before you head on to the next beach.
A short ride from Grote Knip and you'll come to Kleine Knip, a smaller, but equally beautiful beach. This is usually a less crowded beach, so it's up to you which one you prefer to spend most of your day on.

Day 3: Explore Shete Boka National Park & Go Snorkelling
Today you can start your day in Shete Boka National Park, a rugged national park where you can see dramatic stretches of coastline where powerful waves crash against the cliffs. Explore one or more of the several walking trails and viewpoints. One of the most impressive spots is Boka Pistol, where waves explode upward as they hit the rocks.

Next, drive south to Playa Porto Mari, a unique beach with a double reef that creates excellent snorkelling opportunities. Colorful fish and coral formations are easy to spot just a short swim from the shore. This is also the only beach on the island where you can spot pigs.
The beach also has a relaxed beach bar where you can grab lunch.
If you want to add one more beach to your day you can end your day at Cas Abao Beach, a wide stretch of white sand surrounded by rocky cliffs. The water here has incredible shades of blue and is perfect for a relaxing afternoon swim.

Day 4: Day Trip to Klein Curaçao
No trip to Curaçao is complete without visiting Klein Curaçao, a tiny uninhabited island about two hours away by boat.
The island is famous for its powdery white sand and some of the clearest water you’ll ever see. Boat tours depart early in the morning and include lunch, drinks and snorkelling gear.
You can spend some time just relaxing on the catamaran, grabbing a drink while you sail towards the island, maybe you'll even see dolphins like we did. When you arrive, you can swim in crystal-clear water, snorkel along coral reefs, or walk across the island to see the old lighthouse and rusting shipwreck that sits along the shore.
I think this was one of the highlights of my entire Curaçao trip and I can't recommend it enough!

Day 5: Relax at Jan Thiel Beach & Sunset Drinks
For your final day, head to Jan Thiel Beach, one of the liveliest beach areas on the island. This beach has a relaxed yet social atmosphere with beach clubs, restaurants, and comfortable lounge chairs lining the sand.
Spend the morning swimming or relaxing under a palm umbrella. The beach is also a great spot for paddleboarding or snorkeling.
In the afternoon, take a walk along the waterfront promenade where you’ll find shops and cafés. Many people stay here for sunset, when the sky turns golden and beach bars start filling with people enjoying cocktails.
It’s the perfect way to end your Curaçao adventure.
How to Get Around Curaçao
The easiest way to explore Curaçao is by renting a car. Many of the island’s most beautiful beaches and natural attractions are spread across the coast, and public transportation is limited.
Driving is easy and roads are generally in good condition, making it simple to explore multiple beaches in one day.
