If there’s one thing that makes Curaçao stand out in the Caribbean, it’s the diverse, beautiful beaches sprinkled across the island. From hidden coves where you can have the sand almost all to yourself to vibrant beaches lined with bars and restaurants, Curaçao has something for everyone.

The Top 10 Beaches on Curaçao

After exploring almost every corner of Curaçao I decided to create this guide where I’ll take you through the most stunning beaches on the island, including where to swim, snorkel, and just relax. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or returning to discover new spots, these beaches are unmissable.

Klein Curaçao

Grote Knip

Playa Kenepa Grandi, often called Grote Knip, is one of Curaçao’s most famous beaches and for good reason. Located on the west coast, this beach features powdery white sand and turquoise water framed by rugged cliffs.

The beach is great for swimming, snorkeling, or just lounging in the sun. There are lots of sun beds and umbrellas for those needing that, but also lots of space to just relax on your own blanket. If you want a bit more adventure, there is also a cliff above the beach where you can jump into the water from. I'm not sure exactly how high it is, but my boyfriend who loves cliff jumping estimates it to be around 10-12 m (about 30-40 feet).

Grote Knip

If you drive yourself there is a huge parking lot at the top of the beach, but it's usually full if you don't come in the morning. However, you can park along the road without problem, you just need to walk a bit.

At the parking lot there are also a couple of food trucks where you can grab some food and drinks, so it's a great place to spend the whole day. This is also one of the few beaches it's easy to reach by bus from Willemstad.

It's important to know that since this is one of the most popular beaches, it does tend to get quite crowded, especially on days there are cruise ships in port. Many of the cruise tourists choose to spend their one day in Curaçao here, since the ships offer transport here, so if you want a quieter vibe make sure to come on a day where there are no cruise ships in port or choose another of the beaches below.

If you're not comfortable renting a car while exploring Curaçao you can choose to join this popular beach hopping tour instead.

Kleine Knip (Kenepa Chiki)

Often considered one of the most beautiful small beaches on the island and one of my personal favourites. Kleine Knip—also known locally as Kenepa Chiki—is a stunning cove surrounded by dramatic cliffs and vibrant blue water.

It's located on the western coast of Curaçao and is smaller and quieter than its famous neighbour Grote Knip making it perfect for travellers looking for a more peaceful beach day.

The area is ideal for snorkelling and you can often see schools of tropical fish swimming just a few meters from the shore.

There is a small parking lot here, but spots can be limited so make sure to come before noon to make sure to get a spot, and also a sun bed if you want that. Facilities here are limited, there is a small snack bar and toilets as well as sun beds, but so it’s a good idea to bring water, snacks, and snorkeling gear if you need that.

Klein Curaçao

Technically Klein Curaçao is a separate island, but it absolutely deserves its own mention. This tiny, uninhabited island is accessible by boat tours from Curaçao and it was probably one of my favourite days during my whole time exploring the ABC-Islands.

The powdery white sand and crystal-clear water is like nothing I've ever seen before. The colours almost don't look real, they're so blue. There are some sun beds and umbrellas, but no other facilities on the island itself.

Boat trip to Klein Curaçao

It's a two hour boat ride from the mainland so you need to book a tour and do it as a full day excursion. The boat ride was also incredibly fun and we saw dolphins swimming beside the boat on our way to the island. You'll also get food and drinks on the boat during the day and if the right people are on board it can get quite fun on the way back. On our trip there was a a lot of dancing on the two hours back, which was great fun.

Mambo Beach

Mambo Beach is probably the most developed beach area on the island. If you're looking for a beach with lots of restaurants and nightlife this is the spot for you. The whole beach is lined with a variety of beach bars and restaurants. Some have sun beds for a decent price and others have tables and chairs to relax at as long as you buy some food or drinks at the attached restaurant.

There's a human made mole here to stop the waves from coming in, which makes it perfect for families with smaller kids because the water is pretty shallow at many areas.

If you don't want to spend the whole day at the beach you can explore the promenade right behind, which has lots of different shops where you can buy everything from souvenirs to clothes.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is the most popular beach for cruise tourists because of its close proximity to the port, so on days where there are cruise ships in port this beach can get quite busy.

Playa Kalki

Located near the quiet village of Westpunt, Playa Kalki is a favorite among divers and snorkelers thanks to its incredibly rich underwater world. The area is often called “Alice in Wonderland” by divers because the reef just offshore features coral formations, sea turtles, and an impressive variety of tropical fish.

The beach itself is small and peaceful, with soft sand, shaded palapas, and calm turquoise water that feels almost like a natural swimming pool. A short staircase leads down to the beach, where you’ll also find a dive shop and a relaxed beach bar serving drinks and light meals.

Because of its remote location, Playa Kalki tends to stay quieter than many of Curaçao’s more famous beaches, making it perfect for a tranquil day of snorkelling and soaking up the Caribbean scenery.

Right next to the beach is a very small parking lot where we never found space, but if you drive just one minute north you'll find a huge area where you can park you're car, trust me you can't miss it.

Playa Kalki

Playa Forti

Perched below a charming cliffside restaurant on the northwest coast of Curaçao, Playa Forti is a unique beach known for its adventurous cliff-jumping and spectacular views. The small beach sits inside a rocky bay with deep blue water that's perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Playa Forti

Even though this beach is made famous because locals come here to jump from the nearby cliffs, we didn't experience this while we were here. However, I can definitely imagine it being a sight to behold because the cliffs look amazing. Instead, when we visited we had the beach almost to ourselves expect for two other people, so if you want a relaxing day this is a great spot to head to.

There are no sun beds and minimal shade, but there is a really good fish restaurant perched on the top of the cliff so you can still spend a full day here relaxing and ending it watching the sunset with a nice seafood dinner. You'll also find plenty of parking spots along the road near the beach.

Playa Forti

Daaibooi Beach

Daaibooi beach is tucked between rugged cliffs on the quieter part of the west coast of Curaçao. It's a small but beautiful beach that still feels wonderfully local and uncrowded.

The beach is a mix of soft sand and smooth pebbles, and the calm, clear water makes it a great spot for swimming and snorkeling. Because of its sheltered location, the water is usually very gentle, allowing you to easily spot fish and coral close to the shore.

There’s also a relaxed beach bar where you can grab cold drinks, fresh seafood, or a simple lunch while enjoying the view of the bay. If you want to experience a more authentic island atmosphere this is a great spot to visit during the weekend, when it's mostly locals who come here.

Jan Thiel Beach

For those who love social beaches with lively bars, Jan Thiel Beach is a great spot. The beach is lined with restaurants, beach clubs and sun beds, offering everything you need for a full day of fun.

The water is very calm and clear, and there is both a shallow and deeper part so it's a good mix for those just wanting to relax in the water as well as swim a bit further out.

I never ate here, but there were so many options to choose from that I can't imagine you wont find anything that suits you. It’s also one of the best places to enjoy sunset cocktails, with music, people-watching, and ocean views creating a relaxed vibe.

In all honesty, this wasn't my favorite beach on Curaçao. I usually prefer a much quieter scene with less people. I'm still adding it here because if you want to have a more social vibe and more facilities, and not having to bring your own food and drinks, this is a great spot to spend the day.

There is also a huge parking lot here so you wont have any problems parking nearby.

Becah life in Curaçao

Cas Abao Beach

Cas Abao Beach is often described as “paradise in the Caribbean.” The sand is soft, the water is crystal clear, and the coral reef is just a short swim offshore.

This is a great spot if you want ammenities such as sunbeds, umbrellas, a small restaurant, and water sports rentals, but without the massive crowds. It has it all, but is still quieter than for example Jan Thiel or Mambo beach.

This beach has an entrance fee of $6 per person. In addition you need to pay to park, which is free most other places in Curaçao.

There are so many amazing beaches on Curaçao without entrance fees so there is no need to pay unless you really want to visit this exact beach.

Playa Porto Mari

Playa Porto Mari is a gem with a double reef for snorkelling, making it one of the best beaches for underwater adventures. The calm waters and coral formations attract colorful tropical fish, and sometimes even sea turtles swim nearby.

The beach has all the facilities you need, including a small restaurant, beach bar, showers, and sunbeds, making it an ideal spot for a full day of relaxation. This is a great spot both for families and snorkel enthusiasts.

This is the only beach on the island where you can spot pigs which is quite fun!

This beach also has en entrance fee of $3.
