After exploring all of the ABC-Islands and absolutely falling in love with Bonaire I've put together this list of my favourite beaches to make planning your vacation a bit easier. It includes what to expect, how to get there and various insider tips.

The beaches range from secluded coves, pristine white sand beaches and lively shores with water sports, offering something for everyone.

1. Sorobon Beach

Sorobon Beach is famous for its shallow, calm waters and steady winds, making it ideal for windsurfing and kayaking. The lagoon is perfect for beginners wanting to give windsurfing a try. The beach also has soft sand for long stretches so you can choose to just relax here as well, no need to go water sporting.

You'll find several resorts and rental shops lining the beach, so you can easily rent boards or take lessons if that's something you want to try.

For a more social beach vibe, the Sorobon Beach Club area has sunbeds, bars, and restaurants, while still maintaining calm waters for swimming and paddling.

It’s perfect for a day of relaxation with amenities close by, making it great for families or those who prefer convenience.

If you don't live on any of the nearby resorts you'll need to rent a car to get here, but you'll have no problem finding parking near the beach.

If you don't want to rent a car or if you're coming on a day trip from a cruise you can choose to join this tour that takes you to the beach for the day.

2. Klein Bonaire

Just a short boat ride from Kralendijk you'll find paradise. Klein Bonaire is an uninhabited island with powdery white sand and crystal-clear water and one of my favorite spots from all around the ABC-Islands. It’s truly a paradise for snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing without crowds. The water is like something I've never sene before, it's so blue and clear.

The only downside is that there are no facilities on the island, so pack your own food, water, and sunscreen. The underwater world around the island is rich with coral gardens and tropical fish, making it a snorkeler’s dream. It's also a popular place for turtles to lay their eggs so you'll see that multiple places around the island are off limits to protect the nests.

To get there you can book a water taxi from the main town or join this tour that includes a couple of snorkelling stops on the way.

3. Playa Chikitu

Playa Chikitu is a hidden gem on the west coast of Bonaire. It's accessible by car and a perfect combo if you're also visiting the Washington Slagbaai National Park to see the flamingos.

It’s a small, quiet beach with soft sand and calm waters. It's perfect for travelers looking for privacy and relaxation without any crowds. However, facilities here are minimal, so bring your own snacks and drinks and just enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings.

4. 1000 Steps Beach

Despite its name, reaching 1000 Steps Beach doesn’t involve a thousand steps—just a scenic staircase down to the shore. In reality it's more like 100 steps maximum. The reward is one of Bonaire’s most iconic snorkelling spots.

The water is calm and filled with colorful fish and coral formations. You don't have to snorkel or dive to come her, but the sand in itself is very rocky so if you just want to relax on the beach I recommend bringing some good water shoes and something comfortable to lie on if you want to spend the day.

Even if you don't want to swim or snorkel here, I recommend adding it as a stop if you're driving around the island, because the views from the steps are absolutely stunning.

5. Atlantis Beach

For those seeking some adventure, Atlantis Beach on the northern coast is perfect for kiteboarding. You can choose to come her and relax and just watch the pros ride the wind, or sign up for lessons if you're a beginner. If you've been wanting to give it a try, this is the perfect spot to start.

It's a wide and sandy beach with steady winds, making it ideal for kitesurfing. But even if you’re not on a board, the beach is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the dramatic coastal scenery.

There are plenty of parking spots along the beach and a couple of food trucks so you can easily spend the day here kitesuring or just relaxing.

6. Relax on Te Amo Beach

Located just a few minutes from the airport and close to Kralendijk, this small beach is incredibly easy to access, making it a favourite for both locals and travellers. The sand is soft and white, the water is calm and crystal clear, and the shallow entry makes it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or just floating in the warm Caribbean Sea. It's a place that perfectly captures the island's laid-back charm. It’s also one of the best places on the island to watch the sunset.

There's lots of parking here and a couple of pretty good food trucks so you can easily spend a full day just relaxing here, or just come to grab some lunch or dinner while watching the sunset.

7. Lac Cai Beach

Located on the southeastern side of Bonaire, Lac Cai Beach is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path beach that feels completely untouched.

This area is surrounded by mangroves and shallow, calm water, creating a peaceful and almost surreal landscape. It’s not your typical white-sand Caribbean beach, but that’s exactly what makes it special.

The shallow water is perfect for wading, kayaking, or simply relaxing while taking in the scenery, and it’s also a great spot to see local fishermen bringing in their catch.

8. Bachelor’s Beach

Despite its small size, Bachelor's Beach is one of the most loved beaches on the island, especially among snorkelers and divers.

Located just south of Kralendijk, this beach is accessed by a short staircase down from the roadside, which opens up to a narrow stretch of sand and incredibly clear turquoise water. The reef here starts just a short swim from shore, making it an excellent spot to see colourful fish, coral formations, and sometimes even sea turtles.

9. Andrea I & Andrea II

For some of the best snorkelling on Bonaire, head to Andrea I & Andrea II, two neighbouring beach access points along the island’s west coast. These spots are known for their calm conditions and vibrant underwater life, making them ideal for both beginners and experienced snorkelers.

Entry into the water is easy, and once you’re in, you’ll find yourself surrounded by colorful coral reefs, tropical fish, and sometimes even sea turtles gliding by.

Unlike some of Bonaire’s more dramatic beaches, Andrea I & II are simple and natural, with a rocky shoreline rather than wide sandy stretches—but what they lack in sand, they more than make up for underwater. These beaches are typically quiet and uncrowded, giving you space to explore at your own pace. If snorkeling is high on your list, this is one of the best places on the island to spend a relaxed morning or afternoon in the water.

Best Areas to Stay in Bonaire

There are so many amazing Hotels to choose from around the island, but most of them are found close to the main city Kralendijk. It's the Caribbean so you have to expect Caribbean prices, but you can find some reasonable gems as well.

We chose to base ourselves at the Ocean Breeze Hotel very close to Te Amo Beach and with a really nice restaurant attached to it. I would absolutely stay here again. You can find some more options I checked out and loved below.

Insider Tips for Visiting Bonaire Beaches

1. Rent a Car: Beaches are spread out and a car gives you flexibility to visit multiple spots in a day. Compare prices and find the best deals on your rental car here.
2. Snorkelling Gear: Most beaches are perfect for snorkelling, but unless you join a guided tour you need to bring your own snorkelling gear.
3. Pack Essentials: Some beaches have no facilities at all, so make sure to bring snacks, water, and sunscreen.
4. Respect Nature: Flamingos, coral reefs, turtle nests and tropical fish are part of Bonaire’s unique ecosystem—avoid touching or disturbing the wildlife.
