Where to Stay in Da Nang: 5 Best Areas & Hotels For Every Traveller

Da Nang is one of those destinations that has a little bit of everything. Imagine long stretches of sandy beaches, mountains overlooking the sea, lively markets, rooftop bars, excellent Vietnamese food and some seriously beautiful hotels. It's also a fantastic base for exploring central Vietnam, with Hoi An, the Marble Mountains and the Hai Van Pass all within easy reach.

But with so many hotels spread across the city, figuring out where to stay in Da Nang can be surprisingly difficult.

The first thing to know is that Da Nang isn't just a beach destination. While My Khe Beach is where most visitors choose to stay, the city centre has a completely different atmosphere, and the northern coastline offers some of the most luxurious and secluded resorts in Vietnam.

After exploring Da Nang, I'd recommend choosing your accommodation based on what you want from your trip. If you're visiting for the first time, staying near My Khe Beach or An Thuong gives you a great combination of beach access, restaurants and convenience. If you're planning a longer stay, the city centre might be a better fit, while Non Nuoc is perfect for a few days of doing absolutely nothing.

In this guide, I'll break down the best areas to stay in Da Nang, including what each neighbourhood is like, the pros and cons, who it's best for and my hotel recommendations for every budget.

If you don't have time to read the entire guide, here's a quick overview of the best neighbourhoods in Da Nang.

My personal recommendation for first-time visitors is My Khe Beach or An Thuong. You'll have the beach right on your doorstep, plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby, and easy access to the city's main attractions.

If you're staying in Da Nang for a week or longer, I'd also consider splitting your time between the beach and the city centre to experience two very different sides of Da Nang. You can check out my three favourite hotels below.

Should You Stay Around My Khe Beach?

If you're visiting Da Nang for the first time, My Khe Beach is probably the most convenient area to stay in.

This long stretch of sandy coastline is one of the city's biggest attractions, and the neighbourhood behind it has developed into a hub for hotels, restaurants, cafés, beach bars and spas. You'll find everything from affordable boutique hotels to large international properties with rooftop infinity pools and stunning ocean views.

What I particularly like about this area is that you don't have to choose between a beach holiday and a city break. You can spend the morning swimming or relaxing on the sand, head out for a Vietnamese lunch, and then take a Grab into the city centre to explore the markets or visit the Dragon Bridge.

The beachfront road, Võ Nguyên Giáp, runs along the coast, with most hotels located across the road from the beach rather than directly on the sand.

My Khe is also a great base for day trips to the Marble Mountains, Son Tra Peninsula and Hoi An. You'll find plenty of tour operators and drivers in the area, making it easy to organise excursions. If you want it organised in advance you can check the various tours here.

Should You Stay in An Thuong?

Located just inland from the southern part of My Khe Beach, An Thuong is a lively neighbourhood filled with coffee shops, brunch spots, international restaurants, cocktail bars and small boutique hotels. It's particularly popular with digital nomads, expats and travellers who plan to stay in Da Nang for more than a few days.

One of the biggest advantages of staying in An Thuong is that you can easily walk to both the beach and a huge variety of restaurants. It's also a great area if you enjoy going out in the evening but don't necessarily want to stay in the middle of the city's nightlife scene.

While An Thuong is often grouped together with My Khe Beach, I think it's worth treating them as separate areas when choosing accommodation. The beach is just a short walk away, but the atmosphere is more focused on cafés, food and everyday life.

Best Hotels in An Thuong

Should You Stay in Da Nang City Centre (Hai Chau)?

If you want to experience a more local side of Da Nang, I'd seriously consider staying in Hai Chau, the city's central district.

This is where you'll find much of Da Nang's everyday life with traditional markets, local restaurants, cafés, shopping streets and the busy Han River waterfront. It's a completely different experience from staying near the beach, and I think it's an interesting option for those who want to see more than just the tourist areas.

The city centre is particularly convenient for exploring attractions such as the Dragon Bridge, Han Market, Da Nang Cathedral and the Museum of Cham Sculpture. You'll also be closer to the airport, making it a practical choice if you're arriving late or leaving early.

One of my favourite things about staying in central Da Nang would be the opportunity to explore the local food scene. You'll find plenty of small restaurants serving mì Quảng, bánh xèo and other central Vietnamese specialties, often at more local prices than in the beachfront areas.

The main downside is that you won't have the beach on your doorstep. My Khe Beach is only a short Grab ride away, but if you're planning to spend every day swimming and sunbathing, the beach neighbourhoods are definitely more convenient.

Best Hotels in Da Nang City Centre

Should You Stay in Son Tra?

If you want to experience a quieter and more scenic side of Da Nang, Son Tra is an area worth considering.

Located north of My Khe Beach, Son Tra is known for its green mountains, winding coastal roads, beautiful viewpoints and proximity to the Son Tra Peninsula. It's one of the most scenic parts of Da Nang, and staying here gives you a different perspective on the city.

The area is particularly appealing if you enjoy nature and want to spend time exploring beyond the usual tourist attractions. You can visit Linh Ung Pagoda and its famous Lady Buddha statue, explore the peninsula's viewpoints or simply enjoy the coastline away from the busier beachfront neighbourhoods.

Son Tra is also home to some beautiful hotels, ranging from modern beachfront properties to secluded luxury resorts. However, it's important to distinguish between staying in the northern coastal area and staying deep within the peninsula. The latter offers much more privacy and scenery but is considerably less convenient for restaurants, nightlife and sightseeing.

For most people, I'd recommend staying around the coastal stretch near Man Thai if you want a balance between peaceful surroundings and easy access to the rest of Da Nang.

Should You Stay at Non Nuoc Beach?

If you're dreaming of a luxury beach holiday in Da Nang, Non Nuoc Beach is the area I'd look at first.

Located south of My Khe Beach, closer to the Marble Mountains and the road toward Hoi An, Non Nuoc is home to some of Da Nang's most impressive beachfront resorts. Unlike the busy hotel strips around My Khe, this area feels much more spacious, with large properties, landscaped gardens, private beach areas and plenty of room to relax.

This is the part of Da Nang where you'll find beautiful resorts with multiple swimming pools, spas, beachfront restaurants and spacious villas. It's particularly popular with families, couples and those who want to spend a few days enjoying the facilities of their hotel rather than exploring the city from morning to night.

The location is also convenient for visiting the Marble Mountains and heading down to Hoi An, making it a good option if you're combining a beach holiday with sightseeing in central Vietnam.

The downside is that Non Nuoc isn't the best area if you want to explore Da Nang's restaurants and nightlife every evening. Most resorts have everything you need on-site, but you'll need a taxi or Grab to reach the city centre or An Thuong.

Best Hotels in Non Nuoc Beach

Where Should You Stay in Da Nang for a First Visit?

If it's your first time in Da Nang, I'd recommend staying around My Khe Beach or An Thuong. Both areas give you easy access to the beach, restaurants and cafés, while keeping you within a short Grab ride of the main city attractions. They're also convenient for organising day trips to the Marble Mountains, Son Tra Peninsula and Hoi An.

If you're only staying for two or three nights, I wouldn't overcomplicate the decision. Choose a hotel you love near the beach and use it as a base for exploring the rest of the city.

Where Should You Stay in Da Nang for a Longer Stay?

If you're planning to spend a week or more in Da Nang, I'd consider An Thuong or Hai Chau (the city centre).

An Thuong is particularly convenient if you enjoy working from cafés, meeting other travellers and having plenty of restaurants nearby. The city centre is a better fit if you want a more local experience, with markets, traditional food and everyday Vietnamese life right outside your door.

Where Should You Stay in Da Nang for Families?

For families, Non Nuoc Beach and My Khe Beach are particularly convenient. Non Nuoc has several large resorts with swimming pools, kids' facilities, spacious rooms and plenty of on-site activities. My Khe is a good alternative if you want more restaurants and shops within walking distance, while still having easy access to the beach.

Can You Stay in Da Nang and Visit Hoi An?

Absolutely! In fact, many travellers choose Da Nang as their base and visit Hoi An on a day trip.

The drive between the two destinations usually takes around 40–60 minutes, depending on traffic and your starting point. You can easily arrange a Grab, private driver or organised tour, making it possible to explore Hoi An's Ancient Town during the day and return to Da Nang for the evening.

That said, I personally think Hoi An deserves at least a couple of nights. The atmosphere is completely different once the lanterns light up in the evening, and staying overnight means you can enjoy the town before the day-trippers arrive.

If you have time, I'd recommend splitting your stay between the two destinations rather than choosing just one.

Final Thoughts: Where Should You Stay in Da Nang?

Da Nang is one of those destinations where there's no single right answer when it comes to choosing accommodation. It really depends on whether you want a beach holiday, a city break, a social neighbourhood or a few days of pure relaxation.

For most travellers, My Khe Beach and An Thuong are the easiest places to start looking. You'll have plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby, easy access to the beach and a convenient base for exploring everything Da Nang has to offer.

But don't overlook the other neighbourhoods. Staying in the city centre gives you a more local experience, Son Tra offers beautiful scenery and a slower pace, and Non Nuoc is perfect if you want to treat yourself to a few nights at a luxurious beachfront resort.

Personally, I love the idea of combining a few nights in Da Nang with a stay in Hoi An. You get the best of both worlds with beautiful beaches, modern cafés and city life in Da Nang, followed by lantern-lit streets, charming architecture and a much slower pace in Hoi An.
